Friday, February 25, 2011 - The St. Catharine College Women's Soccer team filled a need today when Meade County High School goalkeeper, Kiana Rupe officially joined the team.
Surrounded by her parents, and with her coaches and teammates in attendence, Rupe signed an NAIA Scholarship Contract in a ceremony at the Meade County High School library this morning. "This is an exciting day," remarked Patriot Coach Paul Patton, in attendance for the signing. "We have solid 'keepers returning next year, but Kiana joining us will give us much needed depth. She is a solid goalkeeper and one of the best things about her is that she is fearless. She is not afraid to go get the ball in a crowd. That will be necessary on crosses and corner kicks at the next level."
Kiana started two years in goal for Coach Daniel Shook's Green Wave squad. She earned All District and All Area Honorable Mention honors as well as making the Marion County Cup all tournament team in 2009. In 2010 she made the Murray State Soccer Camp All-Star team, was named All Area First Team, earned the team Defensive Award, and was named Defensive Player of the Year. She was also named Captain of her team her senior year. Kiana is an honor roll student, was named Academic All State, and plans to be an accountant.
