Three St. Catharine College Patriot baseball players have been named NAIA Player's to Watch by Collegiate Baseball. Juniors Travis Adams and Patrick Jones, along with sophomore Jared Yates, were honored by the publication.
Adams transferred from Western Kentucky University after receiving a medical hardship last year. Adams returns to SCC after setting the all-time win mark for the Patriots with 19 wins in two years. In 2007, Adams was the top pitcher in the NJCAA with a 9-2 slate and a 1.65 ERA.
Jones returns as the top power guy in the Patriot lineup. He had 11 homeruns last year and added a .344 average with 8 doubles and was second on the team with 41 RBI.
Yates led the Patriots with a .431 average last year. He added 10 doubles, swipped 19-21 bases and committed only 1 error behind the dish in over 200 chances.
"It's a great honor for these guys and our program," noted Head Coach Luther Bramblett. "We look for these guys to help lead us this year in our first year as a NAIA program."
