The Lady Patriots couldn't get the bats going in their 0-2 loss to Union College on Wednesday afternoon. St. Catharine pulled off the win in game two, 6-5.

In game one, Union's Falon Catalano was dominant, notching the complete game performance in the circle. In her seven innings of work, Catalano struck out 12 and walked none, as the lone Patriot to reach base on the day reached on an error in the fourth inning.

In game two, St. Catherine used a late rally to knock off the Lady Bulldogs, stopping their eight-game winning streak.

Union jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first after a two-RBI double, with another Bulldog recording the other RBI. The Lady Patriots, however, roared back in the bottom of the sixth, tying the game up a 3.

Union took the lead back in the top half of the 7th when a hitter roped a two RBI single with two outs to give the Lady Bulldogs the 5-3 lead going into the last half of the seventh.

In the bottom half of the inning, St. Catharine loaded the bases with two outs on a walk by Erika Adwell (Louisville, KY) and a pair of singles by Justine Paddock (Louisville, KY) and Hagan Goldey (Lancaster, KY), then tied the game after a fielding error by Union, scoring two runs on the play. With runners on second and third, Chelcie Rein (Louisville, KY) hit an RBI single, scoring the runner from third and ending the game.

Overall in game two, Chelcie Rein went 3-for-4 with a game winning RBI, while Kasie Prather (Lancaster, KY) went 3-for-4 with a walk and Goldey ended the day with 2 RBIs. In the circle, Ashley Cardenas (Santa Ana, CA) walked away with the win after relieving starting pitcher, Megan Beecham (Louisville, KY), early in the seventh during a tie ballgame.

The Lady Patriots are now 2-2 in conference play and 4-4 overall.

SCC returns to conference play tomorrow with a DH at Campbellsville University. First pitch for the game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
