Campbellsville University rapped out 30 hits in an afternoon double header against St. Catharine and left the Lady Patriots with two losses on the day, 7-16 and 5-7.
St. Catharine crept to within 6-5 after four innings before a Lady Tiger hit a grand slam in the fifth to lengthened their lead to five.
Kasie Prather (Lancaster, KY) went 4-for-4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Erika Adwell (Louisville, KY) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Ashley Hardin (Louisville, KY) added a pair of RBIs. The Patriots scored seven runs on eleven hits and left 11 runners on base in game one.
Ashley Cardenas (Santa Ana, CA) was the starting pitcher and pitched through four innings, giving up 9 hits and 11 runs. Courtney McHolan (Irvington, KY) came in as the relief to finish the game. McHolan gave up 5 runs on 6 hits. Cardenas recorded the loss.
Hardin took the mound in game two but was quickly replaced by Megan Beecham (Louisville, KY) in the middle of the third inning. Hardin allowed 7 runs on 11 hits in just 2.5 innings. "Ashley wasn't pitching bad, they just jumped on her right off the bat and continued to drive the ball," Head Coach Holly Smith added. Beecham came in and blew it by the Tigers throwing a 4.5 inning shutout with just 4 hits.
SCC loaded the bases in the first only to have the Campbellsville pitcher strike out three straight to end the threat.
Campbellsville did all its damage in the first three innings, scoring one, two and four runs, respectively. The Lady Patriots closed the gap to 7-5 in the bottom of the seventh but three fly balls ended the SCC threat.
England had a solo homer in the first and then Brooke Boils sacrificed Cornett home in the second. In the third, CU came up with seven hits in its four-run frame - all singles.
Prather went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Erika Adwell went 2-for-3 adding an RBI and Justine Paddock went 3-for-4 with a homerun and 2 RBIs.
SCC falls to an 11-14 overall record and a 4-8 conference record.
