The Lady Patriots came out swinging against visiting Midway College Thursday afternoon, taking a pair of wins, 8-5 and 9-1.

SCC jumped on the board quick scoring in the first inning. Midway came back and tied the game in the fourth at 5-5 but went scoreless after. The Patriots ended up scoring three runs in the sixth to put the game away. Hagan Goldey (Lancaster, KY) was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Taylor Steff ( Louisville, KY) went 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBIs and Ashley Hardin (Louisville, KY) was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Starting on the mound and pitching through six complete innings was sophomore pitcher Ashley Hardin, who received the win after allowing 5 runs on 7 hits. Coming in to close the game for the Patriots was pitcher Courtney McHolan (Irvington, KY).

In game two, sophomore pitcher Megan Beecham (Louisville, KY) took the mound and received the win in six innings of work. Beecham held the Lady Eagles to just one run on one hit, which came in the top of the fourth. She also added 6 strikeouts to the day.

In the next two innings, the Lady Patriots dominated at the plate scoring 7 runs along with a walk-off homerun, to complete the sweep in six innings of play, by centerfielder Kasie Prather (Lancaster, KY)

For game two, Prather went 3-for-4 adding a double and 4 RBIs to her walk-off. Emily Caras (Moline, IL) was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and Erika Adwell (Louisville, KY) was 1-for-3 with a 2 run homerun.

The Patriots will be on the road traveling to Rio Grande, OH to take on the Rio Grande Redstorm Saturday afternoon. Play will begin at 1 p.m.
