On a cold, windy day the Patriots (4-2) swept a DH with Indiana University Northwest (0-2) by the scores 10-0 and 9-6. The home sweep ends the Patriots two game losing streak and makes SCC a perfect 4-0 at Edelen-Haydon Field.
In game one, junior Travis Adams (2-0) picked up his second win in as many starts, tossing the first four innings in a five inning affair. Adams struck out 9 and gave up one hit. Sophomore Evan Doub tossed a scoreless fifth. At the plate, sophomore Jared Yates went 2-2 with 3 RBI and scored 2 runs. Junior Chris Smith had a 2 RBI single as did freshman TJ Mangione. Junior Patrick Jones added a RBI double and scored 2 runs.
In game two, junior Nick Holmes struck out 12 in four innings, but gave up 3 (1 earned) in the no decision outing. He walked two and gave up one hit. Junior Andy Dietz (1-0) tossed two innings of scoreless ball to pick up the win. Offensively, the Partiots were led by junior Daniel Bentley's pinch hit, 2 out bases loaded 3-run double in the in the fifth to give SCC the lead. Junior Philip Dean was 2-4 with 2 runs and an RBI and junior Patrick Jones was added a 2 RBI single.
St. Catharine will play IUNW one game tomorrow at 12:00, weather permitting.
