The Lady Patriots knew they would have their work cut out for them going into Thursday's DH against conference leader and #17 ranked, Lindsey Wilson College. But the Pats couldn't put it all together falling to the Blue Raiders 0-7 and 3-8.
St. Catharine faced Anyibell Ramirez on the mound. Ramirez was named National Pitcher of the Week back in March and holds a .57 ERA. She pitched 9.2 innings in both games combined with 20 strikeouts and no earned runs with just one hit to complete the sweep and move her to 19-3.
While the Patriots were shut out in the opener, right fielder Chelcie Rein (Louisville, KY) tallied an RBI and scored a run to help SCC score three runs - all in the fourth inning.
Leading just 4-3 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, Lindsey Wilson answered with three runs of its own to go up by four. Another run in the fifth gave the Blue Raiders its final advantage of 8-3 to push the Blue Raiders to 31-4 overall and 12-0 in the Mid-South Conference.
Megan Beecham (Louisville, KY) took the loss in game one to fall to 2-3, while Ashley Hardin (Louisville, KY) dropped game two to fall to 4-5 on the season. St. Catharine dropped to 11-18 overall and 4-18 in the MSC after tallying just four hits in both games combined.
The Lady Patriots will battle University of Virginia at Wise along with Breast Cancer Awareness at their Pink Games, this Saturday the 9th. Game one will begin at 2pm.
