The SCC Lady Patriots battled against visiting University of Virginia at Wise during their breast cancer games, Saturday afternoon with a conference DH. The Pats took the first game 3-2 before falling 7-14 in game two.
Megan Beecham (Louisville, KY) took the mound in game one to hold the Cavaliers to ten hits with six strikeouts. The defense played well behind Beecham making just one error to force UVA to leave nine runners on base.
Even though SCC only had seven hits in the game, they made them count when runners were in scoring position. Hagan Goldey (Lancaster, KY) and Kasie Prather (Lancaster, KY) each had a double along with Prather's RBI. Beecham also contributed a two-run home-run in the bottom of the fifth to capture the win.
In game two, UVA came out prepared with their bats, having 18 hits compared to the Patriots 12. SCC had a chance to put more runs on the board in the second when bases were loaded with one out but couldn't get their sticks going in time. Both teams were unable to bring runners around leaving nine runners on base with just one error a piece.
On the day Justine Paddock (Louisville, KY) went 4-for-7 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs, Beecham went 3-for-4 with a homerun and 2 RBIs and Taylor Steff ( Louisville, KY) added a single shot homerun in game two.
