Thursday, April 28, 2011 - Kayla Murphy became the twelfth player to join the St. Catharine College Women's Soccer recruiting class today. Murphy signed her NAIA scholarship contract with St. Catharine for both Soccer and Softball in a ceremony in the Hart County High School auditorium this morning.
Kayla played goalkeeper and defender at Hart County High School for Coach Kelly Pedigo after transferring from nearby Barren County High School. In her high school career she has been named All-District, All-Region Honorable Mention, and All-Region. She is mainstay on the A-B Honor Role, and she plans to study Criminal Justice at St. Catharine. Kayla said her goals for college are, "to get a degree and have the chance to play both soccer and softball."
"Kayla is a very strong student and has the ability to develop into a solid soccer player for us," note Patriot Coach Paul Patton. "She has versatility in that she plays both goalkeeper and defender, which I like. She is also a hard worker, which will serve her well at the next level. I think she will represent St. Catharine positively, both on the soccer pitch and the softball diamond."
