Five Patriot Baseball players have been named to the All Mid-South Conference Teams at the annual banquet Friday at Campbellsville University. Three Pats were selected to the first team and two were named honorable mention. Seven Patriots were named to the Academic All Conference Team.
Carlos Hernandez (Fresno, CA) was named to the first team as an outfielder. He received the most votes among the outfielders and received a vote for MSC Player of the Year. The junior batted .380 overall, .429 in conference, with 63 hits. He scored 40 times and had 26 RBI's. He also stole 17 bags and scored 40 runs.
Alan Stoupa (McLean, VA) was named to the first team as a catcher. He batted .380 overall, .300 in conference and had a .497 OBP. The senior had 9 doubles and 2 homeruns with 21 RBI's. Stoupa threw out 40% from behind the dish.
Juan Moriel (San Diego, CA) was named to the first team and the extra infielder. He batted .333 overall, .323 in MSC play. The junior had a .461 OBP with 19 sac hits and 15 hit by pitch. He scored 31 times and had 10 doubles and 2 homeruns, while knocking in 25.
Luis Zeledon (Los Angeles, CA) was named honorable mention as an outfielder. The junior batted .348 overall, .288 in conference. He had 8 doubles and 3 homeruns, while driving home 25.
Tim Paxton (Louisville, KY) was named honorable mention as a pitcher. The senior won 5 games with a 3.41 ERA. He threw 74 innings and punched out 61 hitters. Paxton also won the MSC Gold Glove for pitchers.
Seven Patriots were also named to the MSC Academic Team. Players have to have an overall GPA of 3.25 or higher. Senior Adam Blair (Lebanon, KY), juniors Juan Moriel (San Diego, CA), Tony Krohman (Florence, KY), Neal Straton (Fisherville, KY) and Gregg Tingle (Shelbyville, KY), sophomores Joe Joe Simms (Springfield, KY) and Anthony Thorn (Elizabethtown, KY) were the Patriots that earned the honor.
