The SCC Baseball Club improved to 10-3 with a sweep of visiting Cincinnati Christian University (2-5) by the scores 10-0 and 13-3. The Patriots record at home goes to 9-1.
In the opener, Morgan Jones (1-0) picked up his first win on the year, tossing four innings and scattering 5 hits. Jone walked two and K'd two and induced two double plays. Andy Dietz tossed a scoreless fifth with 2 punch outs. At the plate, SCC was led by Patrick Jones who was 2-3 with a double, homerun and 4 RBI. Ryan Mangione and Shane Young each had two hit days, scored a run and had an RBI.
In the nightcap, the Patriots had to come from behind late, scoring 10 runs in the sixth frame. Adam Gillcrist started and tossed the first 4 innings. He allowed 3 runs and 7 hits with 4 K's. Patrick McDonald (1-0) picked up his first win of the year, tossing the final two frames in relief. He scatterd 3 hits and struck out 2. At the plate, the Patriots were led by Shane Young's grand slam in the sixth. Justin Witt was 2-2 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Daniel Bentley tripled, scored twice and had 2 RBI. Josh Landers tripled as well and scored 3 runs.
The Patriots finish up a long weekend home stand with a DH against Miami University-Middletown Sunday at 1:00.
