With the players reporting this week, they will have something new to play on when they arrive. The outfield grass planted in May will be ready to stretch, run and throw on.
"It's over 90% coverage right now," stated Bat Pat coach Luther Bramblett. "We still have a few areas that have been slow to fill in, but overall we are very happy with where its at. We still have several weeks of potential growing season left, so we'll see how it does."
With the largest baseball recruiting class in route, Bramblett hopes its a welcome sight for the returners and new players. "Sure, we hope they like it. I know it will play better than in previous years and the hitters will like the extra bases they get when they pepper the gaps. Just not sure how the pitchers will take it, but we'll soon see."
New freshmen report to campus on August 11th with the transfers coming in on the 12th.
