St. Catharine Patriot Shane Young was named Mid-South Conference offensive player of the week. This was the first award of the year and he is the first SCC baseball player to garner the award. Last Week, Patrick Jones was named USCAA offensive player of the week as well; which can be found in the news at the Patriot Baseball website. COLUMBIA, Ky. -- St. Catharine College's Shane Young earned the Mid-South Conference's baseball honors for the week ending March 7, according to the conference.
The weekly award is the first of the season for Young.
Young hit .500 (9-of-18) for the week with two home runs and 11 runs batted in to earn the MSC Baseball Player of the Week award. He recorded at least two hits in four the Patriots seven games on the week.
The Lexington, Ky., native, blasted a three-run homer in the Patriots' 11-9 win over NCAA D1 Southeastern Missouri State University and capped the week with a grand slam in a 13-3 win over Cincinnati Christian University. He added nine runs and a pair of stolen bases.
St. Catharine finished the week with a 6-1 record to improve to 12-3 on the season.
