The Marian University Knights hosted St. Catharine in soccer Saturday, putting a 4-0 record on the line also pitching a season shutout. The Indianapolis school stayed perfect in both areas as they posted a 5-0 wins over Tim Wolz’ team.
The Knights scored 29 minutes into the game but that was the only goal they could muster in the first half as the score was 1-0 at the break. But just four minutes into the second period Marian scored as Jeff Seelig slid a shot just inside the right post from 30 yards out. Chase Brackin, who had three goals in the game, then scored the next two at the 55 minute mark and the 73 minutes mark. The Knights completed the scoring three minutes later with a chip shot just out of goalkeeper Justin Mills’ reach.
The Knights outshot the Patriots 20-14 for the game. Marian had 12 shots on goal while SC had only six. Ashley Woods, a freshman from Manchester, England, took seven shots for the Patriots, three of them on goal. The Patriots are back on the field Tuesday with a game against conference opponent Lindsey Wilson. The Raiders are 2-0 and are ranked fourth in the nation. The game starts at 6:00 at Nelson County High School.
