St. Catharine hosted the Trevecca Nazarene Soccer teams in a pair of matches yesterday.  In the women's match, TNU scored two goals in each half to defeat the Patriots 4-0.

Trevecca opened the scoring 9 minutes into the game with a through pass to the back side for the goal.  The Patriots would battle back and get several chances on the TNU goal.  A missed shot and two caroms off the crossbar on free kicks would stymie the SC offense and keep the score 1-0.  TNU scored again on a broken defensive play by the Patriots to take the 2-0 lead and another Patriot shot rebounding off the goalpost would make the halftime score 2-0.

St. Catharine came out with a more attacking posture in the second half and would earn several chances, but were turned away by Trevecca's goalkeeper.  TNU made the score 3-0 with a counter-attack goal.  Despite several more chances, including a strong shot that missed just wide by SC's Kat Stevens, the Patriots were unable to score on this day.  Trevecca capped of the win with a late goal to take home the win 4-0.

The Patriots will be back in action for two games this week.  The Reserve Squad will travel to Asbury for a match on Thursday at 7pm and the Varsity will play against conference rival Rio Grande on Saturday at 3:30 pm at Nelson County High School.
