The SCC Patriots continue to find ways to win, winning two 1-run games (their fourth and fifth straight) against MSC foe Pikeville College. The Patriots plated Ryan Mangione from first in the bottom of the seventh on a Bear miscue that never left the infield to win 1-0. And in game two, the Bat Pats finally broke through with a bases loaded sac fly by Daniel Bentley in the bottom of the tenth inning to win 7-6.
Travis Adams (5-0) picked up his fifth win, tossing a complete game shutout. He allowed 2 infield singles and had 3 K's. Brian Jones had a double with his 2-3 day and Ryan Mangione went 2-3 and scored the only run in the game.
Game two saw Nick Holmes toe the rubber. Holmes tossed 5.2 innings to get a no decision. He allowed 5 hits and had 5 K's. Four runs scored with only to earned. Brian Jones (3-1) relieved Holmes and hurled 4.1 innings. He had 5 K's, allowed 2 runs with only one earned on 2 hits. Adam Blair went 2-5, scored 2 runs with the last being the game winner. Brian Jones added a 2 RBI double and Jared Yates was 1-1 with a 2 RBI double. Justin Witt added a double and scored 2 runs.
The two wins bring the Patriot record to 17-3 and more importantly, 2-0 in the Mid-South Conference. They host Indiana University Southeast Tuesday with the DH to start at 2:00. They will travel to Williamsburg, KY to take on the University of the Cumberlands in a four game MSC series Friday and Saturday.
