The St. Catharine College Baseball Team (19-3) came from behind in the second game, scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to sweep Indiana University Southeast (10-13) in double header action at Edelen-Haydon Field. The Patriots won by the scores of 10-0 and 15-11.
Tim Paxton (1-1) picked up his first win of the year, tossing 4 innings and sacttering 3 hits. Paxton had 4 K's and allowed only 3 runners on base. Andy Dietz pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief. At the plate, Brian Jones went 3-3 with 2 RBI's and 2 doubles. Justin Witt doubled and went 2-4 with 2 RBI's and scored 2 as well. Patrick Jones added an RBI double and scored twice and Josh Landers had an RBI two-bagger to go with a 2-2 day.
In game two, the Bat Pats pounded out 14 hits, scoring 15 runs to earn the sweep. Patrick Jones went 2-3 with 3 RBI, 3 runs and a homer. Justin Witt was 2-3 with 3 runs, an RBI and a double. Brian Jones doubled to go with a 2-4 game with 2 RBI's and scored 3 times. Adam Blair added a 2-2 day with a run and RBI. Philip Dean tripled home 2 and had 3 RBI's and Shane Young homered. Dustin Lewis (1-0) picked up his first win in relief of a host of Patriot hurlers. Eight total Patriot arms toed the bump with Morgan Jones and Lewis as the only two to toss scoreless innings.
The Patriots return to action Friday in Williamsburg, KY at the University of the Cumberlands for a four game MSC series.
