Mother nature forced a delay in game 3 of the Talent Show Series Wednesday, but sunny skys over Edelen-Haydon Field on Monday, meant game on. Team Davis was up 6-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when the game was called and held on for the 7-3 win, going up 2-1 in the best of five series.
Team Davis got on the board in the first inning when Luis Zeledon (Los Angeles, CA) singled home Matt Foster (Stone Mountain, GA) with 2 outs. Zeledon came through again with two outs in the 3rd, when he doubled home Joey Xavier (Selma, CA) for a 2-0 lead. Team Ched cut the score in half in the 4th inning when a bases loaded passed ball scored Andrew Garcia (Las Vegas, NV), who had reached on a single.
A four run 5th inning by Team Davis extended their lead until the rain hit. The inning was highlighted by a bases loaded double by Zeledon and a RBI single by Tyler Mischel (St. Louis, MO). Team Ched had a runner on second with no outs when the game was halted and scored Monday when Gregg Tingle (Shelbyville, KY) doubled him home when the game resumed. Seth Dunn (Elizabethtown, KY) knotched a two out single up the middle scoring Tingle to cut the score in half. But, Team Davis answered back in the top half of the 6th when Jeremy Turpin (Lawrenceburg, KY) doubled home Juan Moriel (San Diego, CA) who had reached on a single.
Matt Pavelich (Tucson, AZ) tossed the first 5 plus innings for Team Davis and finished off the game on Monday. He allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits in 7 innings. He punched out 3. Eric Donnelly (Coral Springs, FL) started for Team Ched and hurled 4 plus innings. He allowed 3 runs on 2 hits and punched out 2. Gable Maverick (Plantation, FL) entered in relief of Donnelly and surrendered 3 runs on 3 hits in his inning of work. Zach Zieman (Cincinnati, OH) tossed 1 inning, allowing 1 earned run and a K and Trenton Claunch (Burgin, KY) tossed a scoreless frame for Team Ched.
Team Davis takes the series lead, 2-1, in the best of five matchup. The series resumes on Tuesday at 3:00 at beautiful Edelen-Haydon Field.
