The SCC Patriot Baseball Team (22-8) scored seven runs with two outs to upend Georgetown College (15-15) in the top of the seventh inning to earn a split in Mid-South Conference action Monday night. SCC lost game one 5-1 and bounced back to win game two 15-10.
In the nightcap, Justin Witt led the Patriots with a two out single to tie the game at 10 to go with a 3-5 night. He doubled, scored 2 and had 3 RBI's. Kaleb Henry went 3-4 with a 3-run blast to left. Daniel Bentley had a double and triple, Adam Blair added a double to go with two hits and Josh Burke had an RBI double, scored 3 runs and had two hits. Nick Holmes (3-1) picked up the win in relief of Tim Paxton. Holmes tossed 1.2 innings and had 3 K's. Paxton pitched 3.1 innings in relief of Brian Jones. Paxton allowed 2 unearned runs while scattering 5 hits and pitching himself out of jams keeping the Patriots in the game.
In game 1, Travis Adams (6-1) suffered his first loss of the season. He tossed 5 innings, allowing 5 runs (2 earned) and scattered 7 Tiger hits. He added 3 K's. Nick Holmes pitched a scoreless sixth giving up a hit while striking out 1. Justin Witt and Brian Jones each had 2 base knocks. B. Jones had the only Patriot RBI, scoring Chris Smith in the first inning on a SAC fly. Patrick Jones added a double.
The split keeps the Patriots (4-4) tied with Georgetown (7-7) for fourth place in the Mid-South Conference. Campbellsville University is (10-1), Cumberlands is (7-3) and WVU Tech is (6-4). Lindsey Wilson (3-6, 9-12) visits St. Catharine this weekend.
