Often known as the second season for the second chances it presents, the Patriot Women's Soccer team will enter the post-season Saturday in the Mid-South Conference. They will go in with momentum with no losses in the final two outings of the regular season.
After losing two close Mid South Conference Matches to Campbellsville and Shawnee State, the Patriots earned a tie against Pikeville and enjoyed a win versus Spalding University Tuesday as the teams honored seniors in their final home game.
Saturday at Pikeville, the Patriot women battled to a 1-1 tie against the Pikeveille Lady Bears in Mid-South Conference action. Then on Tuesday the Patriots scored two int he second half to open up what had been a 1-0 game against the visiting Spalding University women winning 3-0. The tie and win left the Lady Patriots with an overall mark of 7-8-1 and a conference mark of 1-5-1. They will play Saturday at Campbellsville at 7:00 pm in the Quarter Finals of the Mid-South Conference tournament.
In Saturday’s women’s action the Patriots and bears played 110 minutes of soccer before settling for a 1-1 tie after two overtimes. Emily Caras gave St. Catharine a 1-0 lead in Saturday’s game as the senior scored an unassisted goal 54 seconds before halftime. Pikeville tied the score ten minutes into the second half on a goal by Stephanie Morgan. In Tuesday’s action versus Spalding at Nelson County High School the ladies went on top three minutes into the game on a goal by Emily Caras. Paola Martinez and Chelsey Landrum added second half goals in the 3-0 win.
After the game the Patriots honored their senior players; Emily Caras, Devin Gore, Natalie Hurst, Sarah Jefferson, and Courtney Webb. That was followed by the Patriot Men's team honoring their two Seniors, Jonathan Engstrom and Chris Brady.
