The St. Catharine College Baseball Team (23-8) scored 17 runs on 17 hits in a shutout win at home Wednesday afternoon. SCC is 20-2 at Edelen-Haydon Field this year.
The Patriot staff tossed six arms at the Mountaineers and combined to hold them to 3 hits in the seven inning shutout. Brad Krohman (3-0) tossed the first 2.1 innings. Andy Dietz, Morgan Jones, Jeff Strong, Adam Gillcrist and Travis Evans all threw shutout ball. At the dish, Justin Witt stayed hot with a 4-5 day, scoring 3 runs with a double and 3 RBI's. Jared Yates was 2-3 with a double and 2-run homer to left. Patrick Jones went 2-3 with an RBI and scored 3 runs, while reaching base four times. Brian Beavin was 2-2 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's and Brian Jones added a 2-run bomb to right. TJ Mangione and Neal Straton both doubled in their only at bat.
The Patriots return to action Friday with visiting Lindsey Wilson College. The Mid-South Conference series will begin at 1:00 Friday and will resume at 12:00 Saturday.
