For the first time in the history of St. Catharine College athletics, a women's team has received recognition in a NAIA national poll. That came this week when the new basketball rankings were issued and Lena Bramblett's women were in the "receiving votes" category. The Patriots currently own an 11-3 record as they prepare for games in Florida Tuesday and Wednesday.
"This is a well deserved honor for these players," said Bramblett. "They have worked hard and have some big wins."
For the most part even the losses haven't been bad as two of the three Patriot's losses have come to top 20 teams. Those came to conference rivals Shawnee State (#4) and Georgetown (#20). The other loss was against Rio Grande which was also in the conference.
The Mid-South Conference is definitely well represented in the most recent poll. In addition to Shawnee State and Georgetown, Campbellsville is ranked 12th, Cumberlands is 14th and Lindsey Wilson is 22nd.
