Collegiate Baseball magazine released its latest college baseball issue this month and two Patriot Baseball player's were named NAIA Player's to Watch in 2012. Senior outfielder, Carlos Hernandez (Fresno, CA) and junior pitcher Matt Wagner (Brooks, KY) were chosen by the publication. This is the 11th straight year that SC has had player's named by the magazine.
"It's a great honor for these guys," noted Patriot skipper Luther Bramblett. "Both are quality kids, competitors and hard workers. Not only is this an honor for them, but also our coaching staff, team and institution."
Hernandez was a first team Mid-South Conference player last year. He led the Pat's with a .360 average and 67 hits. He scored 43 runs, drove in 30 and had 15 doubles. He also led the squad with 19 stolen bases. Wagner had a 6-2 slate last year with a 3.50 ERA. He also led the team with 4 saves and appeared in 20 games. He tallied 32 K's in 36 innings and opponents batted .222 against him.
The Patriots open up the 2012 season in Mobile, AL against the University of Mobile February 3rd.
