Men's Soccer Hosts Winter ID and Recruitment Camp
Coach Tim Wolz receives over 200 emails and letters a year asking about St Catharine College and its soccer program. Many are high school athletes that do not know the proper steps to getting identified by a college coach.
So Coach Wolz invited 50 high school soccer players from Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio to the campus of SCC, and taught them. The players not only learned about St Catharine College, but also how to put a player profile together, what a college coach is looking for in a player, and what a player should look for in a college. The SCC coaching staff put the players through a college level training session, the campers listened to a presentation, and played full sided matches against the current SCC players and other high school soccer players.
"It was a great time by everyone. My players truly enjoyed speaking and playing with the campers and from the response from parents, the presentation was very informative," Coach Wolz said after the camp. The campers were able to watch and participate in an hour long presentation that helped them gather information that many high school coaches and guidance counselors are unable to provide.
Coach Wolz stated, "There are a lot of players and high school coaches out there that have never heard of St Catharine College. So let's get kids on campus, show them what our program is all about, and hopefully they will walk away with a new appreciation for the hard work and dedication that our players and staff have.
Pictures from the camp can be seen on our SCC Men's Soccer Facebook page. Coach Wolz plans to hold another ID and Recruitment Camp in the fall.
