Ortiz is First Women's Soccer Signee from Texas

East Central High School Standout Commits to Patriots

Sheridyana Ortiz, a standout defender and holding midfielder from San Antonio, recently became the first ever Women's Soccer signee from the state of Texas.

SheriDyana is a versatile player, having played mostly center defender and forward for Coach Elizabeth Sandoval at East Central High School the past two years.  SheriDyana has also played goalkeeper when necessary.  She was named Second Team All-Region 28 both her junior and senior year.  SheriDyana also plays for the Black Dahlias club team out of San Antonio.

Patriot coach, Paul Patton commented on Ortiz, "SheriDyana is a strong physical presence in the back.  She can play central defender, holding mid, and even forward.  She has strong foot skills and distributes well.  I am excited that she is joining our program.  I think she has an opportunity to come in and earn playing time right away."

In addition to her hard work on the field, SheriDyana puts in hard work in the classroom.  She has taken honors classes and is enrolled in 4 AP classes her senior year.  She plans to study Biology at St. Catharine.
